Surprise Lake Tahoe Proposal | Hope + Nic

You know those moments when you think you're just going for a little drive to catch the sunset, and suddenly your entire life changes? Yeah, Hope definitely wasn't expecting THAT when Nic suggested heading out to watch the sunset during their weekend getaway in Lake Tahoe.

A little drive, a pretty view, some quality time together. Totally normal weekend plans, right? Well, Nic had other ideas, and let's just say this sunset ended up being a whole lot more memorable than either of them could have planned for.

There’s something about a weekend away in Lake Tahoe that just feels special. The gorgeous scenery, the fresh mountain air, the excuse to escape your normal routine for a couple of days. Sounds like a pretty solid getaway, right?

For Hope, the plan was simple: head out for a little drive with Nic, find a spot to watch the sunset, and enjoy some time together. What she didn't know was that Nic had a slightly bigger plan in mind.

While Hope was simply enjoying their weekend together, Nic was getting ready to ask one of the biggest questions of their lives. And honestly, I love a good surprise proposal. There's just something about knowing one person has been quietly planning a life-changing moment while the other is blissfully unaware. The secret plans! The nerves! The trying-to-act-normal when you are absolutely NOT acting normal!

Nic had a pretty big secret to keep, and Hope was about to have the best surprise of her life.

The Big Question (And the Best Answer)

There are so many reasons I love photographing surprise proposals in Lake Tahoe, but getting to witness the moment everything clicks is definitely at the top of the list.

One second, you're enjoying a normal evening with your person. The next, they're down on one knee, asking you to spend forever with them. Cue the happy tears, the shocked faces, the disbelief, the staring at the ring.

And then comes the best part. The YES!

Hope and Nic got to turn their Tahoe weekend into the beginning of their next big adventure together.

There's something so special about getting engaged somewhere meaningful, away from the usual hustle and bustle, where you can slow down and soak in the moment together.

Lake Tahoe is such an incredible place for a proposal, whether you're planning an elaborate surprise or keeping things simple and intimate. Between the mountain views, beautiful scenery, and all the little tucked-away spots, it's hard to go wrong.

Now, let's talk about the real MVPs of this proposal story: Hope and Nic's family.

While these two were off having their big moment in Tahoe, family members back on the East Coast were staying up LATE, waiting for that very important phone call.

Because apparently, a time zone difference is no match for the excitement of finding out someone you love just got engaged.

I can only imagine the anticipation. Checking the phone. Waiting for an update. Trying to stay awake because there is absolutely NO WAY you're going to bed before you know whether she said yes.

And then finally, the call comes and suddenly the late night was worth it. The excitement was real, and everyone got to celebrate the news, even from thousands of miles away.

Honestly, if your family is willing to sacrifice their beauty sleep just to hear about your engagement, you know you've got some pretty good people in your corner. 🫶🏼

Planning Your Own Surprise Proposal in Lake Tahoe?

Hope and Nic's engagement is the perfect reminder that a proposal doesn't have to be complicated to be unforgettable. Sometimes, all you need is a little planning, a whole lot of love, and a partner who has absolutely no idea what's coming.

If you're dreaming of a surprise proposal in Lake Tahoe, a romantic weekend getaway is such a fun way to make it happen. You can plan a scenic mountain proposal, find a beautiful lakeside location, or simply choose a spot that feels special to the two of you.

And if you're the one planning the surprise? Don't worry, I've got your back. From helping you think through the logistics to capturing the big moment, having a plan makes it so much easier to actually enjoy the experience instead of nervously checking your pockets every five seconds to make sure the ring is still there. 😉

Hope and Nic, congratulations on your engagement! I'm so happy you get to look back on this special weekend and remember the moment your forever officially began. I’m so honored to have been a part of your proposal 🤍

Here's to the next chapter, a lifetime of adventures, and many more reasons to stay up way too late celebrating the people you love!
